“When I am afraid, I will trust in you.” ~Psalm 56:3
Delight in the Lord
HappyMonday, my friends!
One of my favorite verses in the Psalms is Psalm 37:4, which states, “Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.” Many think this means that God will give them what they personally want. However, what the verse really means is that when we seek the Lord and make Him our everything He will give us His desires. Although, if we are honest, that is not what we want to hear at times. We want God to give us what we want, at the time we want it. We want God to send us our future spouse now, to allow us to have a baby now, get the job that we want now, or to be healed of a sickness now. None of those examples are bad desires, and are God given ones, but where we so often miss the mark is when we put those desires before our desire for Jesus Christ. As I was reading this verse the other day I was convicted that I too often get wrapped up in what I want instead of sitting at the feet of Jesus and simply asking, “What do you want from me today Lord? Show me your desires.” It’s a choice we have to make daily. Are we going to delight in the Lord and seek His face because we love what he loves, or are we going to continue to dwell on what we want?
God wants the best for His children and delights in fulfilling our desires, but He wants us to trust Him with the details. When we do that, our desires will be His, and only then will we be content.
Who are you delighting in today? Yourself or Jesus? Spend some time with the Savior and ask, “What do you want Jesus?”

Happy November!
November is here! This year is flying by and soon we will be ushering in 2016. However, before then we still have a couple months of 2015 to enjoy. November and December are my two favorite months of the year, especially November. I always get excited for the month of November to arrive because that means the holiday is season is nearing. Below are some of my favorite things about November.
- Cooler weather – I love the crisp cool air and that I am able to start wearing my scarves and UGG boots.
- Holiday Movies – Yes, I am one of those people that start watching holiday movies in November. I just cannot help it. They get me in a festive spirit. ( For those interested, New Hallmark holiday movies start this weekend ;)).
- Christmas Music – Christmas music makes me so happy! Amy Grant’s Christmas albums are always a personal favorite. I always have them on repeat during the holiday season. Also, Chris Tomlin just released a new Christmas album called “Adore” that I am actually listening to as I write this.
- Holiday Coffee – It is officially the start of my favorite season at Starbucks. I am already stocked up on their “Thanksgiving Blend,” and I cannot wait for the “Christmas Blend” to become available. It is so good.
- Last but definitely not least — Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday and it is my favorite day of the year. My mom always cooks a huge meal and all of the family comes to our house. Mom is an incredible cook so the food is always amazing and it is wonderful to catch up with family and spend the day hanging out with them.
What are some of your favorite things about the month of November?

Day 31 – I Made It!
Friends! I made it through the 31 day writing challenge and managed to post on my blog every day in October. I made it — even when I did not think I had another post in me. Even when all the crap from this week threatened to overwhelm me — I made it. This past week I didn’t think I would make it to the end of the week without going to the hospital. However, by God’s miraculous grace– I am not in the hospital, and am on the road to recovery. Thanks so much for joining me on my journey this month, and reading what I have had to say about this current season of life I am in. Your kind words, prayers, and encouragement have meant so much to me. Don’t worry though, I am not going anywhere in November. I plan to still blog then as well, but maybe not everyday. So stay tuned. There is more to come.

Day 30 – The Lord is Near to the Brokenhearted
Well, this week has been a hard one. I feel like I am slowly moving out of the fog of medication and from being very sick. The bowel blockage is improving, thankfully, but I am still not well. The doctor wants to give it a couple more days before doing anything else so hopefully things will continue to get better. However, I am not going to be able to go on my trip to Texas to see my best friend Sara, and that breaks my heart. I feel like I am continually having to say “no” to plans due to health reasons. Sara has been super understanding and supportive and she has walked with me in my suffering so well over the past year. It is not always easy being friends with someone who is continually sick, but she has come alongside me in all of my suffering with love, encouragement, and is always ready to listen. That has meant so much to me. I am already looking forward to the next plans we make and seeing her face to face when I am doing better.
In my sadness the Lord has reminded me of Psalm 34:18 which states,
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
This is such an appropriate verse for me and it has brought much comfort to my soul today. The Lord knows. The Lord understands. He is comforting me in the hard places of life and that is such a gift. So thankful for this promise! I hope you all enjoy your weekend.

Day 29 – Update
Thanks for the continued prayers for my blockage. Today will be another short post, but I wanted to share an update. I was on a liquid diet all day yesterday and am on one today. I am not worse but I am not a lot better yet so I will probably be having a CT scan in the near future. For now, that is all the details I know. Please continue to keep me in your prayers and that a hospital visit will not be needed. Thanks friends. Have a blessed Thursday!
