Happy Day after Thanksgiving (aka – Black Friday)! I hope your day yesterday was filled with lots of fun, food, and family time. While many of you are currently out shopping looking for the sales, I have decided not to fight the crowd and stay home in pjs, watch Christmas movies, and do all of my shopping online. There is nothing that I want bad enough to fight the frenzy that is happening today so instead I am enjoying a lazy morning and currently listening to one of my favorite Christmas albums by Matt Wertz. If you are a Christmas music lover like me, you must check it out. Download it here.
Anyways, on to more important topics and the real reason for the season. With the start of the Christmas season comes Advent, and I am excited to be doing a new series on my blog along with my friend Erin to celebrate the anticipation and preparation of the birth of Jesus. The series is called “Anticipating Christ,” and will be focusing on the themes of hope, peace, joy, and love. We will each be writing a new post each Sunday leading up to Christmas starting November 29th. In all the hustle and bustle of the holidays it is so easy to get wrapped up in the commercialization and material aspects of the holiday that we lose focus of Jesus which should be the focal point of everything we do at Christmas as well as throughout the year. My prayer is to learn more and grow closer to my Savior this season more than ever before, and I hope that you will join us on this journey.
Be sure to visit Erin’s blog here. It is filled with lots of great encouragement and resources. Remember to check back on Sunday for our first posts in the series.
